Summer Trends Series-High/Low Hems

Memorial Day Weekend is officially over. If you’ve been delaying summer shopping, don’t. To make it a little easier for you, I’ve pinpointed some of my favorite trends for this summer and, for the rest of the week, I’ll tell you about each and how you can make it work for your body type.

Ready?

Trend: High/Low Hems

I LOVE this look! It’s playful and fun and youthful. It’s everything you want in an easy summer style. It’s all over the runways, as you can see from J. Mendel above. If you have great legs, these are perfect for you. You can draw focus to your legs without the hazards of bending over in a mini. I love that the dresses I’m seeing are loose and breezy. They’re very forgiving if you need to draw attention away from your thighs. Here are two that I am loving!

I am obsessed with this floral number.  Not only is the high portion of the hem at a modest length, the low portion isn’t too low so you can tiptoe into this trend, if you want. The empire waist is perfect for covering up the tummy area and the neckline is very appropriate for movement that includes bending and picking up, say, children. The waist is also cinched if you want to add another feminine touch.

If you’re pear-shaped or fuller on the top than on your lower half, this dress is perfect for you. The busy print also doesn’t allow eyes to linger on any one particular area so go with this one, if you have a fuller figure. If your arms make your proud, this dress shows them off.

The high/low hem dress is equally awesome dressed up and down. Just be aware that your legs and feet will be the focus so wear something pretty down there.

Next up on the Summer Trend Series……. Fluorescent Colors!
